Neuropediatrics (also called pediatric neurology or child neurology) is a subspecialty of Pediatrics dedicated to diseases or dysfunctions of the Central or Peripheral Nervous System, whether congenital or acquired, that occur in pediatric age.
The nervous system is growing and developing very rapidly at this stage, so the approach to neurological diseases at this age is substantially different from that of adults.
The pathologies most frequently studied in this area are many and varied, ranging from the etiological study (origin) of developmental and language delays, tics, headaches, epilepsy, strokes, genetic and metabolic myopathies, cerebral palsy, among others.
